A demonstration built around the Marine Corps’ tiltrotor Osprey, which entered service in 2007 to replace the CH-46 Sea Knight. The airframe’s party trick is rotating its engine nacelles between horizontal and vertical — letting it take off, hover, and land like a helicopter, then rotate forward to cruise like a fixed-wing turboprop.
The demo team has been a fixture on the circuit for close to two decades, and the routine is built specifically to show off that transition: helicopter-style hover work followed by a fixed-wing high-speed pass, in the same few minutes.
