The Army’s official aerial demonstration team, formed in 1959 as the Strategic Army Command Parachute Team and renamed the Golden Knights in 1962. Based at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg), North Carolina, the team is made up of soldiers who compete internationally in parachuting while performing at airshows nationwide.
Their signature show is a precision free-fall and canopy formation routine, often opening or closing an airshow by delivering the American flag or a show sponsor’s banner to the ground in front of the crowd — one of the few acts that puts human performers, not just aircraft, directly in view of spectators.
