The Air Force approved a dedicated F-22 demonstration in 2007 to replace Air Combat Command’s retiring F-15C demo, and the team made its debut that March at Tyndall AFB. It’s flown out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, ever since, showcasing the Raptor’s thrust-vectoring maneuverability with post-stall “cobra”-style passes that most fighters can’t replicate.
The team has grown to roughly a dozen and a half Airmen — the demo pilot, a safety officer, crew chiefs, avionics specialists, and public affairs — supporting a single F/A-22 in the display. It remains one of the most in-demand acts on the airshow circuit given the F-22’s rarity outside active-duty operations.
